Sarajevo Book Fair 2026

The Sarajevo Book Fair is the most visited cultural event in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and it includes:

Promotion of books, authors, publishers, bookstores, and libraries, as well as school and university textbooks, new media, and innovations in printing

  • Participation of over 200 exhibitors from the publishing sector across 10,000 m² of exhibition space, with more than 100,000 visitors

Central Presentation Area – “Bosnian House”

  • Promotion of more than 130 authors, publishers, and bookstores

  • Awarding of official fair prizes

  • Exhibition space dedicated to the Guest of Honour of the Book Fair

Children’s Pavilion – “Dom mladih” (Youth Hall)

  • Interaction between young visitors and authors, illustrators, publishers, and librarians through workshops, storytelling sessions, and exhibitions of children’s creative work

  • A multimedia program presenting books from all fields of creative expression

Fair Awards

  • Presentation of Sarajevo Book Fair Awards for works in the fields of art, science, design, and new media, for the best school and university publications, and for innovations in book promotion.
  • Special fair recognitions are also awarded to authors and publishers who, through many years of work, have demonstrated exceptional dedication and contribution to preserving the cultural mission of the book.

4th Round Table “Library – Author – Reader” | April 25, 2026 | VIP Lounge, “Mirza Delibašić” Hall

  • The international scientific round table brings together prominent domestic, regional, and international experts, theorists, and practitioners to discuss selected topics related to the role of libraries, authors, and readers.

As every year, on April 23, the Program Council of the 37th International Sarajevo Book Fair will mark World Book and Copyright Day with the program “A Book for a Rose”. The project brings together both domestic and international publishers, booksellers, authors, foreign cultural centers, embassies, and educational institutions.

4th Round Table “Library – Author – Reader”

April 25, 2026 / 11:00–15:00 / VIP Lounge, “Mirza Delibašić” Hall

As part of the program of the 37th International Sarajevo Book Fair 2026, held under the motto “BOOK PATH”, the round table “Library – Author – Reader” will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the VIP Lounge.

The goal of the round table is to bring together librarians, academics, and experts in literature, library science, and cultural studies; representatives of cultural institutions and organizations; representatives of ministries of culture or education; as well as readers, writers, and publishers. Participants will have the opportunity to present their views on several key issues related to the topic, including:

  • The role of libraries in preserving literary heritage

  • Authors and libraries: Mutual cooperation

  • Readers as library users

  • The evolution of libraries in the digital age

  • Literary festivals, book promotions, and author–audience interaction

  • Ethics and authors’ rights in the context of libraries

  • Literary awards and libraries

  • Sociological aspects of the role of libraries in society

  • Libraries as educational centers: support for education and learning

  • The future of libraries: innovation and technology

  • Author–reader interaction in the digital environment

  • The book as a cultural product and the role of libraries in shaping it

Sarajevo Book Fair 2026

The Guest of Honour of the 37th Sarajevo Book Fair 2026 is the Kingdom of Spain. Spain is one of the world’s most significant countries, with an exceptional cultural heritage and a strong influence on global civilizations and cultures, fostering connections across all fields of creative expression.

At the Sarajevo Book Fair, the Kingdom of Spain will present its contemporary publishing production and significant works translated into major world languages. Spain will organize an exhibition in the fair’s central presentation and exhibition area – the Bosnian House, promote its books and authors, open new opportunities for cooperation with authors and publishers, and participate in the 4th Round Table of the Sarajevo Book Fair “Library – Author – Reader.”

Centar Skenderija Sarajevo is a unique cultural, sports, and exhibition center that has been successfully organizing fairs, congresses, seminars, and numerous cultural and sporting events since its opening in 1969. Since 1970, when the organization of international fairs began, Sarajevo has become recognized as a “fair city.” To date, more than 500 international specialized fairs from various sectors of the economy have been held at Skenderija.
